THE 19TH ANNUAL
2026 11:00AM Program
IT’S THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR!
Performance weekend is one of the most meaningful times in a dancer’s year—and truly transformative. We’re thrilled to be celebrating this incredible experience with our Move Out Loud family for the 19th year!
Some of my most cherished childhood memories come from my dance recitals. I can still feel the pride, the power, and the pure joy of stepping on stage after working so hard. There’s nothing quite like the moment when the lights hit, the music begins, and the applause rolls in. I felt like the biggest, brightest version of myself—and those moments helped shape me into someone who lives with confidence, courage, and passion.
That’s why this weekend means so much to us. 💫
And at Move Out Loud, our performance experience is unlike any other.
Please read the following information carefully to help ensure a smooth, stress-free, and joy-filled performance season for everyone!
With love and excitement,
Stephanie
(That’s me pictured, with my dance teacher Miss Betty Hayes Baxter – the Guinness World Record holder for longest career as a dance instructor!)

*new this year*
overture has asked us to make some changes for safety and security reasons.
Please read this carefully to make sure you know what to expect!
PARENT VIEWING AREA
Sadly, we are no longer allowed to do the viewing area for backstage parents.
Your three options are:
1. Stay backstage the whole time. You can watch your child on the Livefeed/TV.
2. For kids who need help changing costumes – Come backstage before the show, at intermission, and after the show to help your dancer. The rest of the time you can watch from the audience. We will have staff in the dressing rooms to help kids with costume changes, and to help them get to and from the stage. The Class Captain will also be there to help keep the group together and shepherd them.
3. For older kids who don’t need help- you can drop them off before the show, watch the show from the audience, and come backstage to collect your things afterward.
PRESCHOOL & CAPTAINS
We have asked for an exception to the no viewing area rule for our preschool families, since they need their parents backstage, and for many, it’s their first recital ever and something parents really want to witness <3
Class Captains – one per group – will have a special viewing spot in the wings backstage. They will also get a presale code to purchase tickets.
They will be responsible for:
- Keeping the group gathered and occupied in the dressing room.
- Chaperoning them backstage before they go on.
- Bringing them back to the dressing room after they dance.
- Bringing them from the stage to the lobby after the show.
SHOW DISMISSAL
After the curtain goes down, instead of exiting backstage through the backstage hallway and returning to the dressing rooms, our staff will bring dancers to the Capitol Theater Lobby, through the theater. Not the big Overture Rotunda lobby – the smaller lobby inside the theater doors.
Your dancer’s class will be led by their class captain and/or a Move Out Loud staff person.
We’ll have a map to show where each class will be, and we’ll also have tall signs 🙂
You’ll show your students pick up pass (linked below) to the class captain, then you can head to the main lobby for photos, then to the dressing room to grab your belongings before you head out!
Move Out Loud teachers will be in the Rotunda Lobby for photos after each show!
.
BACKSTAGE PASSES
We will be using stickers instead of digital passes this year.
There are two ways to get your backstage pass stickers:
1. Pick them up from the store during photo week. Anyone over the age of 10 coming backstage will need one.
2. We’ll be at the stage door handing them out during dress rehearsal check-in (8:00am for Show 1,(time) for Show 2.) We won’t be handing them out other than those time windows, so make sure to grab them from the store if you or someone with your family will be arriving backstage outside of those times.

TICKET FAQ
HOW DO I BUY TICKETS?
1) Purchase them in person at the overture box office. (you can avoid the service fee that way.)
2) Purchase them online with the link above.
3) Call the Overture Center box office at (608) 258-4141.
WHO NEEDS A TICKET?
Anyone who plans to sit in the audience. Kids under age 2 need to purchase a $3 “lap ticket” per Overture Center policy. These can only be purchased at the box office on performance day.
WHICH SHOW SHOULD I GET A TICKET FOR?
11:00AM is younger dancers, 3:00PM is older dancers. Make sure to check the links above for each show list.
HOW MANY TICKETS CAN I BUY?
This year you can buy as many tickets as you’d like!
IF I’M BACKSTAGE WITH MY CHILD DURING THE SHOW, DO I NEED A TICKET?
No, but you *will not* be able to watch your child perform. Because of fire codes, we are no longer able to use the parent viewing area as we have in years past.
CAN I GO BACK AND FORTH FROM BACKSTAGE TO AUDIENCE?
The only times you’ll be able to switch is before the show, at intermission, or after the show. It otherwise causes too many security issues, and is disruptive for the audience and performers.
CAN DANCERS WATCH FROM THE AUDIENCE?
Nope! We have monitors backstage to watch the show as it is happening. Dancers are welcome and encouraged to watch from the theater during dress rehearsal. If a dancer wants to watch a performance they don’t dance in, they can purchase a ticket.

SECURITY
Overture has strict security policies in place for the protection of our kids. Anyone planning to go backstage will need to show a backstage pass to be allowed into the area.
No pass = No access!
the Overture Center will also have a list of all guardian names listed in JackRabbit, but this is a much slower way to get backstage.
Please be patient and courteous to security. They are there for our safety, and we appreciate them!
THEATER ETIQUETTE
respectful theater etiquette is an important part of our studio culture. please remember:
- NEVER move through the theater while a dance is in progress.
- wait until the song has finished TO EXIT. if you have just entered the theater, wait by the door for the break TO ENTER.
- always silence your cell phones while in a theater.
- please give performers your full attention – make sure to show support! applause! Bravo! cheering! NO CHATTING.
- photos and videos are very welcome during dress rehearsal, but are not allowed during the performance. PEOPLE WANT TO SEE DANCERS, NOT GLOWING SCREENS! WE HAVE ASKED OVERTURE STAFF TO REMIND AUDIENCE MEMBERS IF NECCESSARY.
